We envision a people centered globalization that values the rights of workers and the health of the planet; that prioritizes international collaboration as central to ensuring peace; and that aims to create an economy designed to serve and embrace the diversity and needs of our communities.
MISSION
For nearly four decades, Global Exchange has built ties between people across borders. Founded in San Francisco in 1988, we bring people face to face through delegations, defend democracy through international election observation, and stand with communities defending human rights in Latin America and at the U.S.–Mexico border. We work alongside the families of the disappeared, migrants, Afro-descendant and Indigenous communities, and people living under U.S. sanctions, because lasting change comes from people who know one another, not from governments alone.
OUR WORK
Global Exchange is tackling some of the most critical issues of our time. We’re changing the rules across the globe from a profit-centered global economy to thriving people-centered economies; from the politics of greed to a living democracy that respects the rights of workers and nature; and from currency to community.
Our campaigns inspire people across the U.S. and around the world to resist injustice, envision alternatives, and take action.
Our holistic approach reaches thousands of members and supporters, through educating the U.S. public about root causes of injustice and the impacts of U.S. government policies and corporate practices. We inspire change by building people-to-people ties, engaging grassroots education for action and linking social and environmental movements.
