For four years, Global Exchange has organized its National Valentine’s Day of Action by encouraging educators nationwide to bring social justice into the classrooms by teaching Global Exchange’s Fair Trade cocoa curriculum. Despite almost ten years of commitments from Hershey and other major chocolate companies to take responsibility for their cocoa supply chains and improve conditions for workers, significant problems persist. Hershey lags behind its competitors when it comes to taking responsibility for the communities from which it sources cocoa, so it’s time to tell them to Raise the Bar.
