I don’t understand the whole political context there, or in Syria, which has also been much in the news for protests lately.  What I am wondering is why the US seems to be propping up the repressive regimes in these two countries, rather than helping out the protesters.  I need to look into it more carefully to understand it, but I would be prepared to bet that oil is at the bottom of it… [...]
