So why is the state green lighting water intensive (and water poisoning) projects like fracking and a slew of other bad ideas? Residents in Mendocino have another idea for water management—local control. They are partnering with Global Exchange to pass the first County-wide rights-based ordinance in the state, to protect water and ban fracking. They may just be shaking up how water decisions are made in California while they’re at it.
