Consumers care where their diamonds come from. Retailers should, too. Please assert your support for conflict-free diamonds.
Here are a few things you can do:
Comply with industry self-regulation requirements
Requirements include purchasing only conflict-free diamonds from suppliers, providing accurate conflict-free warranties to consumers, and training staff about conflict diamonds
Create a conflict-free diamond policy protocol
The policy should ensure that all suppliers have effective and independently audited procedures to eliminate conflict diamonds; making the policy protocol, as well as written guarantees from your suppliers that diamonds are conflict-free, available to consumers upon request is a critical step toward strengthening the warranty system and building consumer confidence that warranties mean what they say
Lobby industry to protect you from the risks of decreased jewelry sales, by creating strong certification systems
Encourage your peers in the industry to get involved, too
As individuals
We invite you and your staff to take the actions on the What You Can Do page or send a letter to the World Diamond Council.
