Celebrating Fair Trade in the Bay Area on World Fair Trade Day (May17) and beyond! May 8, 2003
Greetings! The Petaluma Humanists hosted a free event to benefit the Sanyu Babies Home for Abandoned Children in Uganda, on May 18th. MY Coffee provided cups of fresh brewed Fair Trade coffee at it. We also handed out Fair Trade coffee literature at the event.
Here is a copy of the flier for the event: Petaluma Humanists Organize to Help African Abandoned Baby Home DETAILS: Social conditions in East Africa make it difficult for many mothers and fathers to keep their babies. Come listen to Catherine, a Kenyan mother visiting us from Africa, speak of the reasons why infants are abandoned. Petaluma Humanists who have traveled to Uganda and are organizing support for the infants of the Sanyu Babies Home for Abandoned Children will also share their experiences and a short video of the home. In addition to the presentation, you will have the opportunity to taste delicious Fair Trade Coffee and receive literature about the fair trade coffee industry. Sunday, May 18th, 4-6pm. 189 H Street, Petaluma Coffee Company (Foundry Wharf), Petaluma. Donations of first aid supplies, pediatric medicines and vitamins, children's music cassettes, and money will be welcomed. Admission is free.
