Green Globally, Plant Locally!

It is not enough to resist injustice; we must also envision the alternatives!

As Co-Founder Kevin Danaher says: "The only real antidote to corporate globalization is the local green economy." Building local, equitable economies is central to displacing the structures that give corporations power over people and the planet. By promoting the alternatives, it is our hope to advance our world from profit centered to people centered, from currency to community.

Green Festivals
Attend a celebration of what’s working in our communities – for people, for businesses and for the environment. Hundreds of thousands of concerned individuals over the years have attended these “parties with a purpose” aimed at forging a just, sustainable, inclusive economy! Plus check-out GX and partners in the first Youth Unity Tent at this year's San Francisco Green Festival.
Green Careers Program
Global Exchange has launched a unique program that provides environmental education, job training and mentorship for city college students of the BayView/Hunters point community.
Grind for the Green
Bay Area youth have the chance to join and produce this annual summer eco-music festival. More than a showcase for local talent, Grind for the Green creates a learning environment where youth from the hip hop generation build skills towards professional advancement.
Democracy Schools
Attend this stimulating and illuminating course that teaches citizens and activists how to reframe exhausting and often discouraging single issue work in a way that we can confront corporate control on a powerful single front: people's constitutional rights.
Environmental Service Learning Initiative
In order for the local green economy to grow, we must first start by empowering our youth. In order to do this, Global Exchange partnered up with the San Francisco School District and various local organizations to give our youth the tools to take the lead in transforming our world into a peaceful, loving and sustainable home.
San Francisco Clean Energy Campaign
Campaign for San Francisco to reach 100% clean energy.
