Costa Rica Leaves the Coalition in Iraq

Resource Center of the Americas
September 19, 2004

The nation's Constitutional Court ruled September 8 that the Constitution prohibits military action not sanctioned by the United Nations. While President Abel Pacheco signed a statement of support of U.S. actions on March 19, 2003, they claim the country never wished to be part of the coalition.
