The purpose of this material is to provide educators with information that can deepen their understanding of the contents of the documentaries "Zapatista" and "A Place Called Chiapas". The resources offered here place the documentaries in the broad context of Mexican society, politics, and economics, allowing the educator to draw from various sources of information and better convey the educational themes present in the films.
These packages are organized by pulling out five themes present in both films: Indigenous Rights, Globalization, Militarization, Politics, and Society. Various materials including historical timelines and reading lists accompany each these five subjects. The action campaign package informs educators on how they and their students can get involved with the issues brought up in the learning process.
