Global Exchange seeks committed and specialized volunteers with excellent Spanish language skills to perform crucial human rights observation in southern Mexico.
Short-term Volunteer Program in Chiapas: Short-term volunteers work under the guidance of the Fray Bartolome Human Rights Center and accompany indigenous villagers in areas of Chiapas occupied by the Mexican Army. Volunteers live in Civilian Peace Camps located in local villages threatened by violence. Short-term volunteers spend from six to eight weeks living in one or two of these remote village communities.

Translators: The GX Mexico Program is looking for talented, bilingual volunteers to assist us in translating documents from Spanish to English and vice versa. Volunteers are needed for a wide range of projects: from assisting with the translation of hundred page reports to periodically translating newspaper articles and short documents. The work can be done from anywhere; we will send the documents to you.
Volunteers must be capable of doing professional quality translations and be committed to meeting tight deadlines. They should also have a working knowledge of current events in Mexico and a commitment to social justice issues.
