How to Apply

Successful candidates applying to the program will be self-motivated, socially conscious individuals who can demonstrate a commitment to community and a desire to improve current U.S.--Latin American relations. Candidates should be flexible and open-minded in the face of new and changing cultural enviroments and it is expected that participants will work to disseminate accurate information regarding Venezuela to their communities upon returning home. Additionally, all applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • be in good academic standing and have at least a 2.5 GPA upon enrollment in the program.
  • have taken at leat 2 semesters of college level Spanish or its equivalent.
  • be at least 18 years old.

Application Steps

  1. Schedule a meeting with your study abroad and/or academic adviser to guarantee recognition of the credits you will be earning while abroad. Download the Program Overview to take with you to this meeting and complete the Participation Approval Form with your advisor's signature.
  2. After receiving approval to participate in the program, download the Application Form and submit it to Global Exchange by June 1st for the Fall program and November 1st for the Spring program. A $30 non-refundable application fee is required for all candidates.
  3. Upon receipt of the application and payment of the application fee, your application will be reviewed and you may be contacted by Global Exchange for a phone interview.
  4. If accepted into the program, a letter outlining your offer and the next steps that need to be taken will be sent. All outstanding documentation and a non-refundable down payment of $400 will be due to ensure your spot in the program. Final payment is due August 1st for the Fall program and January 1st for the Spring program.
