Homestays

An important part of students' experience in Mérida revolves around their host families. For 14 weeks, students have the opportunity to practice their Spanish and learn about life in Venezuela through their daily interactions with their families. Three meals a day will be provided (vegetarian when necessary) as will all lodging requirements. Students can expect to be welcomed warmly by their host families and to be treated with respect. In turn, students are expected to follow the rules of the family and to return the respect they will be given. All of the families who open their doors to our participants have years of experience in hosting foreigners, making the homestay experience one of the most memorable components of the Mérida program.
