Counter the Military Recruiters;
Recruit for Peace!

Support Youth in Exploring Real Alternatives

At Global Exchange, we are partnering with Iraq Veterans Against the War to get their voices out in high schools to ensure that youth can make informed decisions about whether to join the military. Military recruiters are in almost every school in the United States, encouraging young people to join the armed services: we need your help so that we can be there too!

To help set up an event with a veteran at a high school near you, contact Kate by emailing kate@globalexchange.org or calling her at 415-575-5550

Adam Kokesh IVAW member:"I fell for that B.S.!"

While education budgets are slashed and teachers are laid off, the US is spending $4 billion annually on military recruitment. Recruiters target low-income communities and communities of color by promising economic and educational incentives, but 65% of enlistees never see a dime for college and 88% of male veterans say they did not learn any useful civilian skills. Through the speaking events, we also talk to youth about alternatives to the military (download the guide to the left!).

The military says that they just made their recruitment goals 2007, even though they failed to meet them in 2005. Find out about their current tactics with these recent articles on military recruiting:

*120 US war veteran suicides a week

*Refuting military recruiting. Protect your kids!

*Recruiters are targeting undocumented migrants by offering them citizenship

Let's keep working until it's an army of none!
