End Dirty Energy Background

To save our climate, protect democracy and stop current and future wars for oil, we must move rapidly away from oil as an energy resource to sustainable green energy production and consumption. As part of the True Cost of Chevron Network, Global Exchange has helped to put a human face on oil addiction and link together communities living at the points of oil exploration, production and refining, into one growing global movement working to rein in the oil industry.

The True Cost of Chevron Network is a global network of 40 groups from Chevron-affected communities, who are from or representing 20 countries or U.S. states and  advocates for meaningful policy changes to rein in and move beyond the oil industry.

By targeting Chevron, the True Cost of Chevron Network has produced the Chevron Alternative Annual Report, as well as organized protests and teach-ins at Chevron’s annual shareholder’s meetings, which have provided a chance for the people and communities most affected to directly hold the corporation to account.
