Film & Discussion: Bidder 70
BIDDER 70 is the story of Tim DeChristopher, a University of Utah student who derailed a widely protested Bush Administration federal oil and gas land sale, bidding millions to save thousands of pristine acres surrounding US National Parks - with no intention of paying or drilling. Bidder 70 follows Tim as he maneuvers legal purgatory, over 2 years and 9 trial postponements. With the threat of prison looming, DeChristopher steps up his activism and matures into a charismatic, ingenious, and non-violent climate justice leader.
On July 26th 2011 Tim was sentenced to 2 years in federal prison. On April 21st 2013 he will be released.
