Have you heard that, in addition to moving forward with the jail expansion plan on Chemical Way, Sheriff Munks & San Mateo Supervisors are asking Sacramento for a little more than $18 million to expand the Maguire Correctional Facility on Bradford Street? This means San Mateo County now has TWO jail expansion projects moving forward.

San Mateo County Democracy for America will be hosting a meeting with members of the Stop the San Mateo Jail Fight Campaign. Join us for this important meeting to learn more about prison and jail expansion across California and how to plug into the fight here in San Mateo. "Why California Can't Buy Its Way Out of the Prison & Jail Crisis"

Please join us for a presentation by members of the Stop the San Mateo Jail Campaign, speakers will include Emily Harris, Statewide Organizer for Californians United for a Responsible Budget (CURB), a statewide alliance of more than 50 organizations working to curb prison spending by reducing the number of people in prison and the number of prisons in California. She will be joined by James Lee of Occupy Redwood City & Silvia Ramirez of the United Parents Committee of the Immigration Task Force who have both been active in fight the San Mateo jail.
