Speaking Event: GI Coffeehouse West Coast Tour
Representatives from The Clearing Barrel at the U.S. Army Garrison in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Under The Hood at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas and Coffee Strong at Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Seattle.
It is more important than ever that GI's know their rights within the military. They must have access to information about all their options. They need counseling on how to avoid being deployed to war and how to seek a discharge from the military as a Conscientious Objector or on medical or other grounds. Service members need support from the military and veteran communities where they are based.
Today’s coffee house outreach centers draw inspiration from the Vietnam-era GI coffeehouse movement and are important gathering places and sources of vital information, community building and leadership development.
Please join us for an evening of important discussion about how GI’s, veterans, military families and civilian supporters have long played important roles in anti-war and anti-militarist struggles.
