Dr. Brian Martin Murphy is a professor in the Department of Communication Studies at Niagara University where he helped found the department’s unique degree in Communicating for Social Justice.

In south, central and western Africa Dr. Martin worked for more than 10 years as a reporter and executive editor, writing for magazines like ‘New African’ and ‘African Business.’ He was the founder and Executive Editor of the southern African regional news service Africa Information Afrique  (AIA). For more than 12 years he was a reporter, correspondent and Bureau Chief for Inter Press Service IPS “The world’s development/alternative news service,” which is based in Rome, Italy.
