| | "Ask Mr. Green" with Sierra Magazine’s Mr. Green, AKA Bob Schildgen St. Joseph the Worker Church Chapel 1640 Addison St Berkeley When is the right time to replace an old refrigerator? Is it more environmentally correct to buy your beer in bottles or cans? And is it okay to knit a sweater with acrylic (petroleum-based) yarn? Join Bob Slidgen as he reads from his recently published compilation of environmental advice columns, Hey Mr.Green.
Schildgen (aka “Mr. Green”) has been answering real-world questions like these in his Sierra magazine column. You get a refreshing dose of common sense—and often a laugh, too—because Bob is a funny guy with his feet on the ground. Green/Schildgen considers how the environment, politics, religion, and other issues intersect—often at the dinner table.
Long time friend of (and some time cohort in crime with) the late Fr. Bill O’Donnell, Bob Schildgen writes the popular “Hey Mr. Green” environmental advice column for Sierra magazine, where he was managing editor and book review editor for many years. A cofounder of Pacific View Press -- which is publishing the much anticipated Fr. Bill, Reflections of a Beloved Rebel -- he has written articles for a variety of publications, including the Los Angeles Times and San Francisco Chronicle. He lives in Berkeley within walking distance of St. Joseph the Worker Church.
