Marines Memorial Theatre 609 Sutter St San Francisco “A smart, engrossing, funny, challenging and moving look at… Nigeria’s bloody oil politics….an aptly complex, hard-hitting piece that paints memorably touching and entertaining figures.” –Robert Hurwitt, SF Chronicle
The amazing one-man show by Dan Hoyle, "Tings Dey Happen" returns to San Francisco!
Launched in SF three years ago, and since touring with great success- including in New York, where it received critical acclaim- seeing Dan’s show is an incredible way to understand the complexities of the current crisis in the Niger Delta.
Come to the show, learn about and support the work of Justice In Nigeria Now!, and sit in on a rare Q & A with Dan about his experience touring the show in Nigeria and how the show was received (Nov. 5th is the only night he is doing this!)
Background on the piece:
Hoyle traveled to Nigeria, where he met with many different people who are in some way connected to oil- whether they are European contract workers based in the Delta, young village men, militants or prostitues.
In turn, he embodies each character in brilliant fashion and through each of their voices and perspectives illuminates in prismatic fashion the situation in the Delta today.
Perhaps you were blessed to see the show before. We encourage you to come again and see how it has evolved.
Hoyle is generously hosting the JINN benefit night the very first night he performs after returning from a five city tour of it in Nigeria. This is a great way to both support JINN, enjoy a night of excellent theater and learn almost directly from people on the ground in Nigeria about how they view the situation.
