A Complete Miracle
We are currently in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. How I have made it all the way over here is a complete miracle. The challenge through which I put my body daily is like nothing I have ever experienced before. Physically and mentally biking every day is hard, and without my 21 fellow bikers i would never be able to wake up every morning before the sun, put the same dirty clothes on and hop right back on the bike.
Living as a community has been challenging as well. By challenge I mean good and bad things. It's so comforting to bike to a place every night, knowing that there will be food and shelter waiting for you. I know that I will not go hungry-at least not for long (although hunger has become a sort of permanent state of mine). In one way or another, we all take care of each other. Sometimes unknowingly, and sometimes consciously. Never being alone has been hard. But we deal. You close your eyes, put on your headphones and you disappear into your own world. The most incredible things that have happened so far have had to do with people's kindness. I had no idea that there was so much of it in the world. The ways in which people have responded to us have varied from having amazing conversations on the state of the US foreign policy to charging us kid's price at the movies. Take care, Tanya |
