Initial Thoughts

Hey all, Here I am, writing from Bozeman, Montana, and enjoying myself immensely. Each day is so different from the next, and yet in an odd way, the same. Each day our route is different: we might go over a mountain pass or we might meet somebody at a gas station and start talking for an hour. But each day we ride. We come up against difficulties, dilemmas, or problems that we just have to push through. And we always succeed. For me, the most challenging part of this trip is the physical effort and mental determination needed to climb those big hills, and to just keep going across the land. One thing I've found amazing is how much will power I have that I never knew was there. The satisfaction of reaching the top of a mountain after panting my way up and feeling that I am going to die is worth the pain ten times over. I am a bit overwhelmed by all the new experiences I am having in such a short period of time. We have only been on the road for two weeks, but already I feel like I have grown and learned so much. I want to learn so much more now that I have learned this little bit about the world. By watching every inch of the pavement go by, seeing all the little towns along the way, and listening to what people have to say, I'm coming to understand the world we live in a little bit more. I know this is short, but I'm off to do research on oil issues in Siberia. So, with much love to all the world, Dora
