Runway Peace Project
"Runway Peace Project is one of the most original, lively - and yes, hip - ways possible to stimulate a candid, inclusive conversation about how militarism threads its ways through our everyday lives." -Cynthia Enloe, author of The Curious Feminist.
The latest initiative of the Women of Color Resource Center, Runway Peace Project (RPP), organizes pro-peace, anti-war fashion shows across the nation. Looking for a way to raise awareness about militarism, gender, occupation and what we can do about it? Host a fashion show & educate your community ...with style! RPP is a multimedia toolkit that examines the powerful influence of U.S. militarism on popular culture. RPP brings together designers, performers and activists in a powerful expression of resistance and hope.
There are many ways that you can bring the Runway Peace Project to your community. Invite a speaker from the Women of Color Resource center to give your production the jumpstart that it needs. We can provide a presentation about the Runway Peace Project to get your community inspired and motivated to produce your own anti-war fashion show event! Or we can offer facilitation of a workshop from our PeaceGAMES popular education curriculum kit. Order the Runway Peace Project kit and using our guidelines, produce your own event partnering with local peace groups, designers, and members from your community to put on a fabulous event! WCRC is available for limited advice, as needed. For ordering information, go to Runway Peace Project.
This kit includes: • the provocative new documentary, Fashion Resistance to Militarism; • a step-by-step CD guide on how to organize your own RPP fashion show; • fact sheets on gender and militarism
