Sanaz Meshkinpour is an Iranian American activist of Jewish and Muslim parents, living and working in San Francisco. She serves as Global Exchange's Middle East Program Coordinator, organizing delegations to Iran, Israel & Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan. Sanaz holds a bachelor's degree in Political Science, with an emphasis on Middle East Politics, from UC Berkeley. She has done extensive coursework on the history and politics of Iran, the Israel/Palestine conflict, as well as the religious, social and economic dynamics of the region. She has been involved for many years with social justice work, educating the public and campus communities on Iran, supporting Palestinians in their struggle against Israeli occupation and advocating against US invasions of Afghanistan, Iraq and currently Iran. Sanaz believes that sanctions or military intervention in Iran would bring about dangerous consequences to the Iranian civil society and populace, as well as for ongoing conflicts within the region. She has family in Iran, Israel and the US - she regularly visits friends and family in Iran.In her dynamic presentation, Sanaz weaves her critical analysis of the situation, with personal stories of her family and their travels.
