Afnan Al-Hashimi
16 year-old Afnan Al-Hashimi, of Iraqi decent, has been speaking out against the U.S. neoconservative administration's illegal occupation of Iraq. She has also denounced the biased American foreign policies in the Middle East, which manifested itself in the aggression against Lebanon in July 2006. She has expressed her solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Afnan began speaking publicly at the age of 12. In October 2006, she received the prestigious CIC Community service Award in recognition of her ongoing efforts in speaking up against the atrocities committed against Muslim nations.
