Global Exchange Reality Tours has been asked by the Democratic Women's Club of Monterey County to arrange travel for its professional members for a customized research tour to study Cuba's policies and practice in environmental protection and sustainable development.
The program will be holistic in nature, a study of the integration in Cuba of the many different aspects of sustainability (human and environmental) from the perspective of Cuban environmental scientists, policy makers, community practitioners, educators, health care professionals and cultural workers.

City tour of Havana to sites of environmental, cultural and historical interest
Overview of environmental policy and practice in Cuba, including ecosystem protection (forestal, coastal and marine)
Presentation on sustainable urban planning and development
Site visits to neighborhood/community development programs
Art and ecology projects
Alamar urban farm with Miguel Salcines
Urban and rural permaculture sites
Presentation on water and waste management
Presentation on renewable energy and energy efficiency
Meeting with Federation of Cuban Women
CENESEX, center for sex education and study of gender issues
Presentation on issues of race and class in Cuba
Intentional community of Las Terrazas in the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve
Site visit to family doctor clinic and polyclinic
Presentation on Cuba's public health system
Presentation on Cuba's public education system and Literacy Campaign
Visits to Vinales Valley and Trinidad

We must receive your application and a non-refundable deposit of $500 three months before departure. Payments by Mastercard, Visa and Discover are welcome. Full payment is due 8 weeks before departure.
