The Comercializadora de Productos Artesanales S.A. , otherwise known as Comparte (or "Share" in English) was created to stimulate handicraft production, an important source of employment in developing countries such as Chile. By acting as a bridge between the Chilean artisan and the external market, Comparte addresses a major factor limiting the economic development of the handicraft sector: the marketing of the final product. Comparte reinvests any surplus generated from the sale of the handicrafts in market research, design and production of new products, and technical training programs for the artisans. Comparte's efforts are directed towards bringing the artisan closer to the international handicraft market while ensuring fair prices for their products and labor.
