Conference sponsored by UNESCO and UNEP and organized by UNESCO, UNEP and CITMA, the Cuban Ministry fo Science, Technology and the Environment

We invite your participation in The 7th International Conference on the Environment and Sustainable Development in Havana, Cuba, July 6 - 10, 2009 that is taking place during an Eco Cuba Exchange Environmental Research Tour, July 3 - 12, 2009.

This Environmental Research Tour will include opportunities for individual and small group meetings, according to area of expertise and interest, and site visits before, during and after the Conference for further research. The research component of this Tour will comprise 48 hours, more than the equivalent of a full work week; the conference component comprises 30 hours, although some of your individual meetings might be set up during conference hours.

The Conference will include Five Congresses:

  • Ecosystems and Biodiversity Management
  • Environmental Policy and Management
  • Environmental Education and Action
Seven Colloquia:
  • Agriculture, Bio-energy and Food Security
  • Risks of Mining and Oil Activities
  • Risks of Globalization and Roles for Civil Society
  • Eco-Health: Natural Disasters and Climate Change
  • Risk Assessment to Reduce Natural Disasters
  • Environmental Management
  • Environmental Law and Justice.

The Extended Research Tour will address the environmental, political, and human aspects of Sustainable Development and allow for further meetings between conference participants and your Cuban colleagues. The final itinerary will be determined by the interests and expertise of the individual participants.
