• Afternoon: Participants arrive in Managua.
• Leave for Matagalpa (2 hours)
• Welcome dinner in Matagalpa. Group intros, review schedule and expectations.
• Lodging: Hotel Arauz

DAY 2

• Morning: Breakfast at hotel. Orientation with trip leader and free time for email, phone calls etc.
• Intro to CECOCAFEN, cooperatives and fair trade in Nicaragua.
• Lunch at Maná del Cielo.
• Afternoon: Leave for La Corona (1 hour from Matagalpa)
• Arrive to cooperative. Meet families and tour community.
• Get settled in with families.
• Dinner with families and spend the night.

DAY 3

• Second day of homestay.
• Morning: Pick coffee and take part in processing.
• Spend day with family.
• All meals with individual families.

DAY 4

• Third day of homestay.
• Morning: Pick coffee and take part in processing (with individual families or in a group)
• Afternoon: As a group, visit to hacienda.
• All meals with individual families.

DAY 5

• Morning spent with families. Pick coffee or work on farm.
• Afternoon: Group activity. Visit the Yasica waterfall and hike the Poza Bruja trail.
• All meals with family.
• Lodging in La Corona.

DAY 6

• Morning: Bus to Matagalpa. Visit the Solcafé Dry Mill.
• Lunch at Maná del Cielo in Matagalpa.
• Afternoon: Return to communities to stay with families.

DAY 7

• Morning: Work with families.
• Lunch with family.
• Afternoon: Nactamal lesson. Visit Barrio Nuevo, a community of landless workers from the local hacienda.
• Farewell activity with host families and community.

DAY 8

• Morning: Breakfast with families. Meet with Association of Rural Workers.
• Lunch in Matagalpa.
• Afternoon: Free time in Matagalpa.
• Group evaluation at CECOCAFEN.
• Farewell dinner at La Vita Bella.
• Lodging in Matagalpa.

DAY 9

• Morning: Depart for airport in Managua.
