Friends of the Conservatory Centiennial to Cuba
Come for a trip of a lifetime, and visit Cuba with the Friends of the Conservatory Volunteer Park from Seattle, Washington! This will be a unique delegation, focusing on environmental education and plant conservation. On this trip you visit Cuba's National Botanical Gardens in Havana and Cienfuegos, the Orchid Gardens in Soroa, and various sustainable community projects. Learn firsthand through people to people exchanges with plant experts and botanists, both in the uban setting and out in the provinces.
• The 600 hectare National Botanical Garden near Havana with over 80,000 specimens divided by Cuban ecosystems and regions of the tropical world.
• The Soroa Orchid Garden in Pinar Del Rio which was created in 1943 and claims to be the 2nd largest orchid garden collection with over 800 species.
• The Cienfuegos Botanical Garden, formerly known as the Atkins Institution, was founded in 1899, was the center of tropical plant research, was controlled by Harvard University and consists of a collection of some 6000 specimens many of which are rare and endangered.
• A tour of historic Habana Vieja.
• Visits to the City Museum, Parque Metropolitano de La Habana, Antonio Núñez Jiménez Foundation of Man and Nature, the Convent of Belen, the urban garden at Alamar.

To register, please send in your application form and a deposit of $500. Payments by Mastercard, Visa and Discover are welcome. Deposits for Cuba delegations are non-refundable unless the trip is canceled by Global Exchange as explained below.
Please note: We must meet a minimum number of trip participants on every trip, so please register early!
To ensure that all participants can plan accordingly, the minimum number of participants must be reached within 30 days before departure, or the trip will be canceled. Registered participants can choose to receive a full refund or transfer to a future group. Once a trip is confirmed (reaches the minimum # of participants) registrations may be accepted up to 1 week before departure.
This trip will be as diverse as possible in terms of race, age and life experiences. In some cases, a limited number of partial scholarships are available for low-income applicants.
