We invite you to join Global Exchange Reality Tours, Chabot College historian Rick Moniz and Greg Bourne, global leader in peace building and conflict resolution for a unique 17-days tour of Spain, with a brief stop in Portugal. 

Spain enjoys a rich history. The Romans, Visigoths, Jews, Muslims and Christians have all left their mark. Today, Spain faces new challenges from the Euro debt crisis to immigration challenges. Changing Fortunes, Changing Times examines the sweep of Spanish History. The past becomes the present, as we look at the critical issues facing Spaniards at the beginning of the 21st century.

This is travel for the adventurous – intellectually and physically – as we will be exploring the Andalusian region of Southern Spain via coach and walking, and then walking about 70 miles of the Camino de Santiago along the Portuguese Way through the Galicia region of Northwest Spain.  During the trip we will investigate the history and impact of faiths, empires and the arts in these regions.

At various places during the trip, Greg and Rick will talk about the dynamics that have led to violence in the past, and explore a future where violence is replaced with non-violent means resolving conflicts. The sojourning along the Camino will enable the group to engage in some profound discussions on these and other pressing topics facing global societies.

This tours starts in Madrid and ends in Santiago de Compostela.
