SAVE HOCKEY, FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE FEBRUARY 16th

Wouldn't you love to have the opportunity to play hockey and save the climate?

Ever want to fight greenhouse gas emissions simply by lacing up your skates?

Now you can!! ORGANIZE YOUR GAME, AND DROP THE GLOVES ON GLOBAL WARMING TODAY

If you are willing to organize an outdoor hockey game (ice or road) on or around Feb. 16 please contact Mike at itstimetoriseup@gmail.com and let him know. Games currently being organized in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Detroit, and Chicago.

Overview: What does hockey have to do with climate change? The increase in global temperatures caused by climate change will have a tremendous effect on outdoor hockey because ice quantity and quality will diminish. Fewer continuous cold days means that it is more difficult to produce a good ice surface. Ice that is produced can be slushy and will not last as long. Without ice, there can be no outdoor hockey, and future Wayne Gretzky's may never hone their skills in the backyard rink.

While we readily acknowledge the serious issues of climate change we must also acknowledge that new attempts must be made to reach out to currently uninterested groups. "Save Hockey, Fight Climate Change" aims to do just that. It touches on a major North American value and brings the seriousness of the climate change issue to new people.

If you want to organize a game or help the campaign please contact Mike at itstimetoriseup@gmail.com and register your event or find out how else you can help out. (organizing guide attached and more resources available).

Young people have one of the most legitimate voices to speak out against the Harper aka Bush agenda on global warming because it is OUR future that is at stake. The planet doesn't have time for voluntary commitments -- we need bold reductions and commitments today. We must meet and exceed our commitments under Kyoto not ignore them or we won't have much of a future.

Fortunately, it's not too late to turn the tide in Canada but we need your voice and body to do it. On this site are a few suggestions for action - feel free to do any or all of them. Please get out there, sound your voice, and be sure to let us know when you do because by collecting our voices we can show the world that we are the next global movement and we want our world BACK!!!!
