Detroit feels the heat
of student organizing

Check out PHOTOS and VIDEO

60 Michigan students and the Freedom from Oil team rallied Sunday, January 13th at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI for a clean energy economy with sustainable transportation as the centerpiece. Students at the rally marched in downtown Detroit from Hart Plaza to Cobo Hall wearing green hard hats and blue coveralls to symbolize reinvigorating Michigan's economy with green jobs and green car manufacturing.

Many students at the rally are working on sustainable transportation campaigns on campuses in Michigan as part of the Campus Climate Challenge. In addition to the rally, students participated in workshops and heard from speakers on Friday, January 11th and Saturday, January 12th, as part of the Transportation Challenge Weekend Getaway.
