Freedom from Oil takes on Big Auto at the LA Auto Show
This past week the Freedom from Oil campaign was at the Los Angeles Auto Show exposing the industry's hypocrisy, converting plug-in electric hybrids, and calling for the immediate withdrawal from the lawsuit suing California for implementing emission standards to new cars.
Here's a recap of our days in LA.
Day 1-- Empty Promises
The day started early. We made a special delivery to the Omni Hotel where all the auto executives and media were held up. Our special delivery was a parody of the front page of USA Today. We replaced every front page outside of every door in the hotel.
The auto show was abuzz with the headline promises of Ford's withdrawal from the lawsuit suing CA for setting emission standards. The parody not only brought some humor to the dismal auto show, but also highlighted the industry's hypocrisy in touting clean cars in the showroom, while fighting emission standards in the courtroom.
Toyota, GM, and Ford were certainly aware that we were attending the show. In fact many of us were removed via private security even though we had the proper credentials to participate in the show. What are they trying to hide? What don't they want to talk about?
The day wrapped up with Freedom from Oil asking top Toyota Executive Bob Carter the question Toyota does not want to be asked: Why, while you spend the week touting clean cars, are you suing California and its people to block clearer emission standards on our roads and communities?
Drop out of the Pavley lawsuit Toyota. WHY NOT?
See Bob Carter's answer in the video below. You won't believe it! Toyota turns schoolyard bully.
