What Do O.A.A. Groups Do?
|
| An O.A.A. group is whatever the folks in your area make of it. There are numerous ways or reducing our dependence on oil and, given the current state of the world, we likely need all of them. While we at O.A.A. National believe that each group needs to pick the solution that will work for their area and the specific needs and strengths of their group, we felt it would be handy to offer a few suggestions for a place to start |

Is O.A.A. for You?
|
| At this moment people all over the world (though mostly those in the “Global North” with incomes in the six figures and fancy titles like “CEO of Ford Motor Company”) are thinking that O.A.A. won’t work for them. They say things like - "O.A.A. won't work for me. I'm too far gone," or "It's nice for those bike loving hippies, but I'm President of the United States. I have to support the people that got me elected."

Our Recovery Program: A 12-step program to end our addiction to oil.
|
Mr. Bush almost came clean in his State of the Union Speech when he finally admitted that “America is addicted to oil”.
Our leaders have exhibited the classic signs of addiction – denial, aggression, avoidance, blaming others – and as a country we are falling far short of reaching our full potential. It is time for nothing short of a national intervention, and a 12-step program to break America’s oil addiction.

Each O.A.A. group has but one primary purpose -- to help members and non-members end their addiction to oil. There are those who predict that O.A.A. may well become a worldwide movement for spiritual awakening. When our allies say these things, they are both generous and sincere. But those in O.A.A. know that we must take it one SUV at a time.
What is O.A.A.? Oil Addicts Anonymous (O.A.A.) is a place for petroholics (people addicted to oil) to come clean. O.A.A. is voluntary. No one is forced to be in O.A.A. although some (CEO's) are strongly encouraged to do so.
O.A.A. is designed to be a gathering of men, women, transgendered individuals and corporate CEO's from all races, cultures, and classes to come together to declare, attain and build a world free from the evils of oil dependence and to bring the oil pushers/dealers (mostly CEOs, large car companies like Ford, Oil Companies, etc. etc.) to justice.
The only requirement of membership is a heartfelt desire to end the addiction. There are no membership fees although donations are always welcome.
